Well, it just so happens that I have the official Resident Evil 5 release date right at hand and I’d be more than happy to share it. The official release date for Resident Evil 5 is currently October 1st, 2008. And while it may seem like a long way away before we reach October, just remember that there is going to be plenty of other Resident Evil goodies being released in the meantime to help keep us avid Resident Evil fans busy.
There’s obviously Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii owners among us. There’s the recently released Resident Evil: Essentials for the PS2 which includes some classic RE games such as: Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil 4. There’s also Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo Wii. Not to mention the fact that Resident Evil: Extinction, the third Resident Evil movie, is due for release on February 8th, 2008 - which is only just over a month away. Be sure to pre-order yourself a copy before they’re all sold out.

i don’t know where you found this date, but i highly doubt it’s the actual release. every website i’ve checked has a different date, anywhere from february to 2009, so i’m not trusting anything until i hear something official
It could be the date.It has been a few years after RE4 was released so they had enough time to make it to come out in late 2008.I just hope they don’t push it back.

I work with Capcom North America and the game is completed. I know this becuase I am one of the many beta testers for the game. we are working on getting all the bugs worked out. The game is for ps3 and xbox 360 owners only! The official release date has NOT been anounced but we are looking for an early June to late July release. Please be patient as we are working our hardest to make this game the best we can. Also, this is most likly our last Resident Evil title. we are working on something much more jaw dropping then Resident Evil could ever be. Thank You

i think that this is some sort of a marketing tact also just note taht all the block buster titles have not yet been released like GTA4,Metal gear 4,residentevil 5 and Silent hill 5.All top games are yet to come.these developers know that more delay means more faster selling when the games are released.

I’ve been dying for this game to come out and they just keep pushing up the release date fo rsome reason. It started out coming out in Januray 2008, then they said October, but now in all the Capcom press releases their saying 2009. And if you look at gamestop.com, the pre ordered copies don’t ship until 5/5/09, so we will have to wait at least a whole nother’ year. That’s just great. Resident Evil is the reason I play video games though, so I know it will be good and well worth the wait I just wish their were more good survival horror games that could measure up to RE to keep me entertained in the meantime. I’m always comparing all of them to RE and I just get bored easily cause their just not the same.
There’s only one problem with Danny’s comment. Although he never actually leaked information about the game, but I highly doubt he’s really part of it because under my knowledge, I always believed anyone involved with a yet-to-be-released game was not allowed to talk about it at all. They are under oath.
Besides that, I never was a huge Resident Evil fan, but ever since playing Resident Evil 1: Director’s Cut, for PS1, I’ve paid attention to several of the games. I haven’t played many of them, but I’ve watched household members play them. RE5 looks like it’s going to be a great game.

Ranga, in answer to your question, the books are based on the game, the game came first, although in the series of books, 7 in total, there are at least two original stories, which link re 1 and re 2 nicely.

Capcom released DMC4 not too long ago. INSANE GAME! I finished it and it is much worth it. My point is if they know that people are getting hard-ons for RE5, then they should release it while there is still lead in the pencil. When all those with hard-ons must climax because of blue balls, then no one will be aroused anymore. RE5 will lose its DEMAND if it is not released soon. Capcom rocks, but now they suck!

Yea ive been waiting for Alan Wake over a year or something… but i think as far as Resident Evil 5 is concerned i say take your time because there as has been a lot of talk lately about diminishing authenticity in games due to hastened release dates. Just to give a example, Bungie almost freaked out right before the shipping date due to heightened pressure and this in term might have affected working conditions (if i remember it right)….

Ok, First of all like all games there is bound to be a time where there going to postpone the game. Now from what info i know re5 will most likely come out this october since that is when most other games are comming out Fable2,Left for dead, and such forth. And to all the fans for the movies… THE MOVIES FOR THE GAME SUCK AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!!!!!!! Seriously i mean i played all the games and read the books and yadda yadda but where did this women alice come in with the game. I mean why did they have alice when they should of have LEON in it! Oh and one more thing I bet my life on it since chris redfield is in the game then most likely in some part in the game Clair redfield will show up in it. Or most likely you play as her in a mini game after you beat the game. =) Can’t wait to unlock some sexy outfits for her. agreed with mclould, capcom is trying there hardest to finish and meet every fans expectations. To all the R.E. fans reading this. resident evil 5 is not just another R.E. game. It’s the revolution of R.E. gaming experience. So if it takes more time to finish we should just accpet capcoms doings and enjoy there other resent achievements. I heard devil may cry 4 was badass.
We all know it’s a revolution of R.E but it wont be the last. But one thing that would be badass for number 5 is that if there was 2 disks. It would be a good feeling seeing it being a 2 disk set knowing that the game will be long and sweet. And i found out that on the trailer where that girl is shown for 2 seconds is clair. The umbrella company kidnaped her. Because when the plane took off in R.E code veronica it landed in africa or where ever R.E 5 takes place and Chrs Redfield took the mission to go there to findout something and to find his lost sister. Probaly the game will go on and on and at the end he probaly gets a cure and cures her =D what a ending. Oh does anyone know if there will be button commands like in R.E 4 during a cut scene? resident evil 4 was released for the PS2 in 2005. It was released for pc much later. Yes, I checked! I don’t need to get my facts right before i post something, because I know my sh*t, kid! For example, if Redfield suffers prolonged exposure to heat, he will begin to see mirages and hallucinations.[5] Also, the game implements various lighting effects. And to answer your question about RE5 coming to PSP. No, dude, that will be impossible for such a small device to handle such a huge game, if you consider everything that is going into it for eg 60 fps and the overall graphics and sound. if the PS2 can’t handle it, the PSP defintely will not be able to.
Sebastian, are you talking about the IM? If so, I downloaded the IM setup file and when I run the installer, it gives me some crap about there is no internet connection and aborts the procedure. I’ll keep checking it out and give you a shout, bro. But I think we all knew that. There some amazing creatures which sonds awsome. He said the game had a definate release for march 31. the reason they are postponing reseident evil 5 is because some people think it is racist for chris to be shootin black ppl but i mean there is one white guy surrounded by like 4000 black zombie like creatures whose heads explode and try to eat his face off and as a black man myself i would shoot the shit outta them muthafuckas early i just want to see if chris is as good of a marksman as they say he is in the game cuz for real i want to see him in one of the cut scenes shoot someone in the elbow and that person accidently cuts their own head off wit an ax or suttin cuz that would be insane skills feel me
Yeah, dude, there was a debate about the game being racist, but I think that many people are over that. With a game set in Africa, in a township, what do people expect? If you walk into a township in Africa you are going to see black people. With the game set around that, people just have to learn to understand it. One of the main reasons why the game is not released yet is because they are still trying to fix bugs. It would be cool to see Chris shooting a dude in the shoulder and watching him cut off his own foot, and no matter how much reaslism it would add to the game, they will only have room for so much. that skill will probably be repeated 50 times throughout the game to axe and chainsaw zombies instead of having unique self inflicting wounds each time you shoot an enemy anywhere else on the body instead of in the head. It will become tedious after a while seeing the same thing happen to different zombies or only to those with axes or chainsaws. My opinion, dude, is that it will be more original if they just keep the old RE4 skill: shoot a dude with a chainsaw and watch him reel to the ground and moments later standing up for another go at you. What you are saying will be cool, but with the game already complete, if you don’t find an enemy chopping off his own leg after getting shot in the shoulder, but rather reeling back to the ground, let’s enjoy it.

RE5 is gonna rock. I’ve only been able to play RE4 and code Veronica and outbreak. I can tell from the videos on youtube this game is gonna be sweet. Hopefully there’ll be some hard caore creature slayin and slashin. I hope they decide to make for Ps2 because thats all I have for now until I can get a Ps3 or XBox. If they dont that’ll suck. WHENEVER I PLAY IT THOUGH IM GONNA KILL IT!!!!!!!!
I hpoe the gameplay is like RE4 but if it isnt I’ll play it for a minute or 2 and figure it out. I hope Im good at it cuz I’ll probably end up gettin’ it.

I thaught the same thing with RE4. I missed the zombies. But there goin back to zombies in there new CG movie and then right back to bug people in 5. I dont know if they can make up there mind.
RE5 looks like it is going to be AMAZING! but i was thinking, after looking at the trailor you are completely surrounded by zombies. will there be space to move around? or are you just going to keep dying quick. In RE4 all the zombies usually came in front of you down a path way if i remember correctly.

um….just so everyone of you dummies realizes….my guess is not one person on this forum has gotten the re5 demo. it has been released if you at least want a little peak. its pretty fucking sick. the new lighting takes getting used to but hey. zombies move insanly fast. couple little things i saw wrong but its only a demo. thats why its taking so long. do you really want a game that doesnt work. let them work the kinks out. just pick up the demo at your local gamestop bros.
