Resident Evil Degeneration Release Date

One of the more frequent questions that ResidentEvilNews.com receives - besides what is the official Resident Evil 5 Release Date - is what is the official Resident Evil Degeneration Release Date. And, I really wish I had an answer for you guys. I, too, am really excited about checking out Capcom’s first effort at a totally CG Resident Evil movie.

The only problem, however, is that Capcom really isn’t giving away much with regards to news or details about Resident Evil Degeneration. They know that Resident Evil fans all over the world are very eager to learn more about the movie but, at the stage, so early in Resident Evil Degeneration’s production, I think it’s a good idea that Capcom is playing their cards pretty close to their chests.

I’m not worried, though, I’m optimistic that Resident Evil Degeneration is going to be a great addition to the Resident Evil franchise.

But, until a solid release date for Resident Evil Degeneration is disclosed, I’m afraid I don’t really have any answer for you guys. However, as soon as that magical release date is revealed, you can bet I’ll be posting about it on ResidentEvilNews.com immediately.

What a lucky bunch those GameSpot guys are - they managed to snag an extra glimpse into the progression of Resident Evil 5 and posted their updated impressions. As you can see, everything is looking very rosy so far and I’m eager to get my hands on the full version of Resident Evil 5 when it is finally released. Here’s a brief quote taken from the recent GameSpot article:

From the look of things, the game is sticking pretty close to the core of RE4’s combat systems. We saw Chris shoot, stab, and get off a context-sensitive kick on the horde of foes coming at him. As time passed, enemies started pouring down from the ceiling, which added a whole new dynamic to the action. As if all of that wasn’t challenging enough, a massive, war-hammer-wielding foe punched a hole through the wall, showing off the new destructible environments and allowing more enemies in.

Resident Evil 5 Producer Interview @ Game Trailers

The guys over at GameTrailers.com have today uploaded a vry interesting video interview with the producer of the highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 game for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Naturally, along with some grilling questions, you can also expect some juicy footage of Resident Evil 5, too. The video interview with the Resident Evil 5 producer, which spans just over 5 minutes in total, is definitely work. Enjoy!

Resident Evil Zero Port for Wii Rumours

The folks over at Strategy Informer recently published a news article about a possible port of the classic Resident Evil Zero - which originally debuted on the Nintendo GameCube - coming to the Wii. It is rumoured that the Wii update of Resident Evil Zero will also go by the handle “Biohazard 0″ in Japan, too.

If there is indeed going to be a Wii version of Resident Evil Zero released, it would be nice to think that there might be some bonus content and, obviously, the same level of care put into the Wii remote control scheme as that featured in the Wii port of Resident Evil 4. We’ll just have to wait and see what Capcom have to say on the matter but I’m optimistic that these Resident Evil Zero for Wii rumours are true.

Zero Punctuation Reviews Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

The Escapist Magazine’s very own Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw has published yet another another hilarious video game review on his Zero Punctuation show. This time Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw focuses on the latest Resident Evil title to be released, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii.

If you’re a fan of his previous video reviews and the typical, dry, British humour that Zero Punctuation brings to the table then you will no doubt want to check out this latest video. Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw — while managing to crack some genuinely funny gags — also manages to actually touch upon some genuine pros and cons in Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and even makes a quick comparison to one of his other more recent reviews: Silent Hill 0rigins for the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP). Definitely highly recommended from me if you feel like having a giggle.

Resident Evil 1.5 Actual Gameplay Footage

Remember that pre-historic time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and people were still playing on their old, but oh-so classic, PlayStation One consoles? Well, once upon a time, while Capcom were busy beavering away at Resident Evil 2 and counting all their profit from the original Resident Evil, there existed a version of Resident Evil 2 that did not come to light.

Yes, the Resident Evil 2 that you (should) have in your classic PlayStation games collection was almost a completely different Resident Evil game altogether with totally different locations, enemies, storyline and even a brand new playable character called, “Elza Walker”, who was later to be replaced by Resident Evil fan-favourite, Claire Redfield. However, perhaps because it turned out to be a bit crap, Capcom scrapped much of the Resident Evil 2 material that they had generated and created and released the Resident Evil 2 that we all know and love.

Archived footage of the older prototype version of Resident Evil 2 — now unofficially dubbed, “Resident Evil 1.5″ — has managed to surface since the release of Resident Evil 2 - all those years ago. I thought I’d go ahead and include one of the longer gameplay videos which features a plethora of Resident Evil 1.5 footage and reveals some interesting features that seemingly did not make it into the official Resident Evil 2. Obviously the most notable feature being, Elza Walker, the playable female character who did not make it into the final Resident Evil 2 build. See how many more you can notice.

Resident Evil: Degeneration Trailer

Yes! Finally a trailer for the eagerly-awaited Resident Evil: Degeneration has surfaced, and a mighty sexy trailer it is, too. Provided you are indeed old enough to watch the Resident Evil trailer, you’ll no doubt notice the appearances of Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy; two of the Resident Evil series’ more popular characters. There are also a ton of zombies to be seen, too. Let’s face it, Resident Evil wouldn’t be Resident Evil without zombies, right? However, there isn’t a whole lot else given away by the trailer, bar for the brief character sequences, that is.

There is also an absolutely stunning HD version of this Resident Evil: Degeneration trailer available over at GameTrailers and, if you happen to have access to a speedy broadband internet connection, I’d highly recommending heading over to GT and viewing the high definition version instead. The standard definition quality just doesn’t do the trailer any justice compared to the high definition version.

But, I’m just curious now, what do you guys think of the first Resident Evil: Degeneration trailer? I don’t doubt Sony Pictures will be releasing more and more videos as the movie moves closer to completion but, already, I’m impressed and really looking forward to checking out Resident Evil: Degeneration when it is finally released. Resident Evil: Degeneration Blu-ray Exclusive?

Nothing official has been said yet, but seeing as we all know that Sony Pictures owns the Resident Evil movie license and is currently in the process of developing the first ever Resident Evil CG movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration, it begs the question: Will Sony ensure that Resident Evil: Degeneration will be Blu-ray exclusive? Sony is obviously fighting to promote their Blu-ray platform and win the ‘high definition’ war against the HD-DVD format and releasing the next Resident Evil movie as an exclusive Blu-ray title can only help boost Blu-ray sales.

Personally, I think it would be great to be able to watch Resident Evil: Degeneration in glorious high definition on a Blu-ray media player, such as the Sony PS3, but I understand that HD-DVD still retains 30% of the market at the time of my writing this article. That’s an awful lot of people who would be missing out on Resident Evil: Degeneration if it were to go Blu-ray exclusive. If you only owned a HD-DVD player, would you purchase a Blu-ray player just to watch it? Would RE: Degeneration really be entertaining enough to warrant spending over $500 or £400 on a Sony PS3 or Blu-ray player?

Like I say: Nothing is official just yet. But the folks at Sony Pictures would be fools to release Resident Evil: Degeneration on HD-DVD. I’m fairly confident that we’ll only be seeing this next Resident Evil movie in Blu-ray format and, perhaps, in a PSP-friendly UMD format - but a UMD release is a long shot in itself.

Resident Evil 5 Available In 2008? Probably…

While it’s just little more than a rumour at the moment, it’s possible that the highly anticipated Xbox 360 and PS3-bound survival horror adventure from Capcom, Resident Evil 5, just might be released towards the end of 2008; as opposed to its previous early 2009 release date estimate. This can obviously only be good news for Resident Evil fans whom want to save some extra cash by putting Resident Evil 5 on the top of your Christmas list and getting a relative to buy it for you.

An internal memo from Microsoft games chief, Don Mattrick, revealed the following:

In 2008 the hits will continue to come with exclusives including “Halo Wars,” “Too Human,” “Fable 2,” Alan Wake,” “Splinter Cell: Conviction,” and several exciting yet-to-be-announced titles. Xbox 360 will be home to the next versions of great franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil, and we will continue to be the leading choice for sports fans, with the next editions of Madden and FIFA looking and playing better on our platform.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m almost 1,000,000% confident that no other Resident Evil titles for the Xbox 360 have been announced whilst I was sleeping. So, provided that isn’t the case, I’m fairly certain its safe to say that the above comment was referring to Resident Evil 5. I can’t guarantee that Resident Evil 5 will be released this year as I’m not privy to that kind of information, but for what it’s worth: Resident Evil 5 will more than likely, probably, almost certainly be released this year… maybe.

Resident Evil: Extinction Movie News and Info

Resident Evil: Extinction, the highly anticipated Resident Evil movie starring Milla Jovovich as ‘Alice’ which will conclude the exciting trilogy, is drawing nearer and nearer to its official release date and devoted Resident Evil movie fans such as yourself are no doubt eager to learn as much as possible about the film before it finally hits the shelves on February 18th.
