Did you know that even to this day Resident Evil and Dino Crisis are still among the most successful gaming series’ ever? Granted that Dino Crisis hasn’t quite been able to live up to the success of it’s older brother, but back in the days when the original PlayStation was the dominant gaming platform, the Resident Evil series and Dino Crisis series were making a lot of noise in a very short space of time.
Sure, nowadays we’ve got plenty of new kids of new kids (well, relatively new kids compared to the Resident Evil and Dino Crisis series) on the block: Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, Halo, the list goes on. However, you’ll be hard pressed to find a gaming series that dominated the original PlayStation console quite like the Resident Evil and Dino Crisis series. Heck, besides Final Fantasy and the original Metal Gear Solid, the Resident Evil series is among the only last-generation series’ that has survived the test of time. The Dino Crisis series, however, while extremely popular back in the day, has been taking a long break since the release of Dino Crisis 3 for the Xbox several years back.
I’m still optimistic that Capcom will see fit to deliver us Dino Crisis fans a new addition in the form of Dino Crisis 4 one day, but when remains to be seen. In the meantime, while we wait for Dino Crisis 4 to hit the headlines, we still have the phenomenally popular Resident Evil 4 to keep us busy while we wait for the highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 to be released.
