Milla Jovovich is dressed to kill in latest Resident Evil: Retribution photos

Resident Evil: Retribution will mark the fifth entry in the live action movie series, and we can’t wait to see it in the flesh, as it were. And not least because Milla Jovovich is going to be sporting a rather eye-catching little skintight number and continue her globetrotting campaign of liberating the planet of its face-chomping, meandering menaces. While we can’t join the slender heroine on her zombie-cleansing tour of the planet, we can at least grab a peek at what’s going on behind the scenes, while the film is still very much in development. Check out the two photos below to see the lovely Ms. Jovovich suited up and ready to rock and roll.

The inclusion of the Umberlla logo on her outfit makes us wonder if perhaps Alice’s army of clones might be making a return, but in a much more nefarious capacity. We’ll have until September to find out for sure, though. Feel free to speculate away in the forum.

Resident Evil: Retribution poster teases of London setting

Great Britain is famous for many things: Foot Guards, tea and crumpets, abysmal weather, and Mr. Bean. One other notable attraction that remains exclusive to us cheery English folk is that of the Big Ben tower; you can see it from a billion miles away and it continually reads the correct time — it’s invaluable for those without a wristwatch.

It seems that some of the folks working on the latest Resident Evil flick are quite partial to our great landmarks and tourist attractions, anyway. You need only have a gander at the brand spanking new poster design for the upcoming Resident Evil: Retribution movie, a poster which will forever immortalize a vision of the once-great Palace of Westminster being blown to kingdom come by an aerial armada of Umbrella’s more ruthless creations.

But, where are the zombies?

There’s a distinct lack of zombies, though. Presumably they fancied a much warmer climate.

Be warned: if you’re susceptible to believing everything you see and hear on TV, you might want to spare yourself a few nightmares and watch something a little more cheery and much less about a supposedly soon-to-come zombie apocalypse. Just sayin’. However, if you’re feeling brave and do decide to check out the new trailer, do make sure to keep your eyes open around the 0.58-second mark to catch a quick glimpse of Leon’s main squeeze, Ms. Ada Wong, as portrayed by actress Bingbing Li.

Also: Michelle Rodriguez will indeed be returning for this latest Resi flick, after being understandably absent since the original Resident Evil movie. We’ll have to wait and see how Retribution manages to explain away her being… well, not dead.

Upcoming movie renamed to Re5ident Evil: Retributions; details spill out

Whether you felt it deserved a name change or not, the next Resident Evil movie has received a brand new titling: Re5ident Evil: Retributions. It might not be grammatically correct, but I would imagine the mfolks over at Screen Gems — or whomever made the call — are privy to much more accurate and diverse marketing research details and statistics than I am. There might even be one or two of you out there whom thinks the new name is — dare I say it — cool. If so, congratulations! You are among the intended target audience demographic for Re5ident Evil: Retributions and should watch it the second it hits your local cinema.

Cute name revisions aside, we’ve also learned a little bit more as to what the film will actually be about and which glamorous locales the anti-Umbrella freedome fighters will visit during their journey:

“The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice [played by Milla Jovovich], awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex.

Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Cool beans. Will Wesker return? I haven’t a clue, but it’s unlikely given the circumstances surrounding his, err, exit in the previous movie. Michelle Rodriguez will supposedly be making a comeback, however, which is rather odd considering how a number of zombies became uncomfortably intimate with her neck.. and arm… and torso in the first film. Ali Larter (Claire Redfield), Sienna Guillory (Jill Valentine), Bingbing Li (Ada Wong), Johann Urb (Leon S. Kennedy), and even Kevin Durand as one Barry Burton will all allegedly be making an appearance in the flick — allegedly.

Fifth Resident Evil movie rumoured to be in production

Long-running producer of the Resident Evil movies, Don Carmondy, who is also in charge of producing the upcoming Silent Hill: Revelations movie, has apparently confirmed that the fifth entry in the big screen adaption of the Resident Evil series of games has been given the green light. According to the Toronto-based producer, the team in charge of bringing the flick to life are in presently writing up an ample Resident Evil-ish script before moving on.

The majority of the original cast will apparently be returning for the sequel — including Milla Jovovich reprising her role as Alice — and it is believed that the story will follow on from where Afterlife left off. This means we can most likely expect Jill Valentine to return, as well as Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield and erhaps even Wesker.

Capcom: Resident Evil: Damnation Animated Movie in the Works

Hot on the heels of Resident Evil: Afterlife storming the box office, a new Resident Evil movie has been announced that will be a direct sequel to 2008′s animated zombie-romp, Resident Evil: Degeneration. Resident Evil: Damnation, which is targeted for a 2012 release, is rumoured to feature the return of series favourites, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.

This time however, while RE: Damnation will be also be an animated feature in a similar nature to Degeneration, Capcom is eager to take full advantage of 3D technology. Capcom will be closely collaborating with Sony Pictures for this project.

RE: Afterlife 3D Soundtrack Available on iTunes

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with JC Chamboredon of Milan Records recently. JC was kind enough to offer me a review copy of the new RE: Afterlife 3D soundtrack which was composed by Tomandandy (who were also responsible for the music featured in The Strangers and Killing Zoe) and was recently made available on iTunes.

The soundtrack is the perfect compliment to the film and is definitely worth a purchase. The soundtrack contains a whopping 20 high quality tracks with a combined running time of almost 44 minutes.

IGN Reviews RE: Afterlife 3D

IGN has just now published their Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D review and it’s definitely worth a read. If you’re still on the fence as to whether or not to go and see this new Resident Evil flick at the cinema, then I’m sure IGN’s review will help sway you into going to see it in all of its 3D glory. Resident Evil: Afterlife Pictures

A batch of screenshots from the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife movie were recently released to the public; I’ve included ‘em below for your viewing pleasure. No official word on who each of the characters in the pictures are, but speculation amongst fans is already rife with excitement as it appears Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker will both be making appearances in RE: Afterlife. I’m sure you will also notice the return of Claire Redfield and Alice.

So, my question is this: If Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker are indeed playing major roles in RE: Afterlife, would you, the fans, be excited about seeing the two square off -mano-a-mano? Anderson Confirmed As ‘Afterlife’ Director

Production Weekly is reporting that Paul W.S. Anderson is returning to the director’s chair for Resident Evil: Afterlife. Anderson directed the first installment and stayed on board as a writer and producer for the two sequels. He wrote the fourth film as well. Sony’s Screen Gems has set a September 17, 2010 release date for the fourth film that will again star Milla Jovovich at Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto.

Well, I’m not certain whether this is good or not, but hopefully they can make a good storyline. As stated in the quote, there will be another trilogy, starring Milla Jovovich. Maybe the storyline could turn out better this time around, after Anderson did direct the remake of Death Race.

Paul W.S. Anderson Comments on Resident Evil 4 Movie

Resident Evil 4 will feature an ARMY OF ALICES! It’s been confirmed by the man, Paul W.S. Anderson, himself. The cloned Alices from Resident Evil: Extinction will in fact be featured in the next Resident Evil movie. Can you imagine that? An army of ultra sexy Milla Jovovich clones all jam-packed into one Resident Evil movie?

Resident Evil: Degeneration Hi-Def Trailer

Just a quick post to showcase the new Resident Evil: Degeneration trailer that was made available at Comic-Con ’08. The trailer’s in glorious high definition, too, so that makes it extra sexy.

The trailer opens with the line “7 years after the Raccoon City disaster” before we catch a glimpse of Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy. I won’t spoil it anything but I will say that just from watching this brief trailer, Resident Evil: Degeneration is shaping up to be a great addition to the Resident Evil movie series.

Resident Evil Degeneration Release Date

One of the more frequent questions that ResidentEvilNews.com receives – besides what is the official Resident Evil 5 Release Date – is what is the official Resident Evil Degeneration Release Date. And, I really wish I had an answer for you guys. I, too, am really excited about checking out Capcom’s first effort at a totally CG Resident Evil movie.

The only problem, however, is that Capcom really isn’t giving away much with regards to news or details about Resident Evil Degeneration. They know that Resident Evil fans all over the world are very eager to learn more about the movie but, at the stage, so early in Resident Evil Degeneration’s production, I think it’s a good idea that Capcom is playing their cards pretty close to their chests.

I’m not worried, though, I’m optimistic that Resident Evil Degeneration is going to be a great addition to the Resident Evil franchise.

But, until a solid release date for Resident Evil Degeneration is disclosed, I’m afraid I don’t really have any answer for you guys. However, as soon as that magical release date is revealed, you can bet I’ll be posting about it on ResidentEvilNews.com immediately.

Yes! Finally a trailer for the eagerly-awaited Resident Evil: Degeneration has surfaced, and a mighty sexy trailer it is, too. Provided you are indeed old enough to watch the Resident Evil trailer, you’ll no doubt notice the appearances of Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy; two of the Resident Evil series’ more popular characters. There are also a ton of zombies to be seen, too. Let’s face it, Resident Evil wouldn’t be Resident Evil without zombies, right? However, there isn’t a whole lot else given away by the trailer, bar for the brief character sequences, that is.

There is also an absolutely stunning HD version of this Resident Evil: Degeneration trailer available over at GameTrailers and, if you happen to have access to a speedy broadband internet connection, I’d highly recommending heading over to GT and viewing the high definition version instead. The standard definition quality just doesn’t do the trailer any justice compared to the high definition version.

But, I’m just curious now, what do you guys think of the first Resident Evil: Degeneration trailer? I don’t doubt Sony Pictures will be releasing more and more videos as the movie moves closer to completion but, already, I’m impressed and really looking forward to checking out Resident Evil: Degeneration when it is finally released. Resident Evil: Degeneration Blu-ray Exclusive?

Nothing official has been said yet, but seeing as we all know that Sony Pictures owns the Resident Evil movie license and is currently in the process of developing the first ever Resident Evil CG movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration, it begs the question: Will Sony ensure that Resident Evil: Degeneration will be Blu-ray exclusive? Sony is obviously fighting to promote their Blu-ray platform and win the ‘high definition’ war against the HD-DVD format and releasing the next Resident Evil movie as an exclusive Blu-ray title can only help boost Blu-ray sales.

Personally, I think it would be great to be able to watch Resident Evil: Degeneration in glorious high definition on a Blu-ray media player, such as the Sony PS3, but I understand that HD-DVD still retains 30% of the market at the time of my writing this article. That’s an awful lot of people who would be missing out on Resident Evil: Degeneration if it were to go Blu-ray exclusive. If you only owned a HD-DVD player, would you purchase a Blu-ray player just to watch it? Would RE: Degeneration really be entertaining enough to warrant spending over $500 or £400 on a Sony PS3 or Blu-ray player?

Like I say: Nothing is official just yet. But the folks at Sony Pictures would be fools to release Resident Evil: Degeneration on HD-DVD. I’m fairly confident that we’ll only be seeing this next Resident Evil movie in Blu-ray format and, perhaps, in a PSP-friendly UMD format – but a UMD release is a long shot in itself.

Fourth Resident Evil movie being planned

A quick news post today as info is rather sketchy on this one; apparently a follow-up to Resident Evil: Extinction is already in the works, even though it has yet to begin filming! Sadly nothing has been revealed yet, other than the fact that a fourth film will be in production at some point after the release of Resident Evil: Extinction. However, this can only be good news for fans of both the games and movies series.
