I will start by apologising for the lack of News recently, but i think this trailer more than makes up for that.

There will be some of you who have seen this but as always i like to make everyone aware of the current trailers and information.
As most of you will know Capcom are giving us all a very late Christmas present with the release of more download content to compensate for the disgustingly bad versus mode DLC!!!
The Gold edition will feature two new playable episodes, The first, Lost in Nightmares, pits Chris and Jill together as they enter spencers mansion, which will expand on the flashbacks we see in RE5, Lost in Nightmares will be available for download on February 17th on Xbox Live and 18th on PSN, along with a new costume pack.

The second episode, entitled Desperate Escape, follows Jill (again) and BSAA agent Josh Stone, as they escape the Tri-Cell facility to come to the aid of Chris and Sheva in the final fight with Wesker. This content will be available on March 3rd on Xbox Live and 4th on PSN, along with another costume pack. More good news for the collectors amongst us, on March 12th, a Gold Edition will be released: this will be a single Blu-Ray disc containing all content for the PS3, and a single DVD with a token for all of the released content on Xbox 360.
Now on to the trailer;
Correct me if i am wrong here but i could swear that “thing” attacking Chris and Jill is accompanied by a zombie!!! (1:42 in the trailer) Now if my eyes have not deceived me then this is going to send all RE fans into fits of excitement, especially as the majority of us crave more zombie action rather than the new direction the franchise has taken. Feel free to crush the hope i am clinging to if any of you know for a fact there will be no zombie slaying action in the new content.

In a similar vein to how Resident Evil 4 was re-worked to work with the Nintendo Wii’s WiiMote, Sony has boasted of an interesting new feature that will be available to the PS3 version of Resident Evil: Director’s Cut – currently set for the extremely vague release date of “2010″. The new feature includes the option to play Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut using the PS3′s very own “Motion Wand” technology.

Check out the following link to see footage of the game being played with the motion controller: PS3 motion controller footage.

Edit: I should also point out that the name “Motion Wand” was coined by journalists and is not the official name for the technology. Sony has not yet decided on an official name for the peripherals as yet. A quote from a Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson says it better than I ever could:

“The motion controller, still not officially named, was announced at E3 2009 in June, and will be used in the “Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut” when it releases in spring of 2010″

Following rumours that the PC port of Resident Evil 5 has been scrapped, I feel compelled to set the story straight:, Resident Evil 5 for PC has not been scrapped and I can indeed confirm that it will be released September 8, 2009.

“The PC version will be able to run on XP machines, as long as they are running DirectX 9, the company has revealed that DirectX 10 will only be needed for use with Nvidias 3D vision goggles. Gamespot tried out the game, running on high end machines and mid range rigs. The game is planned to support XP, Vista and windows 7″

So the good news is you don’t have to be running on a super computer to be able to play Resident Evil 5 for PC, and you should be able to run the game at a decent resolution and high details with most middle to high-end graphics cards. One of the most exciting features about this port is that it will be compatible with Nvidias 3D vision goggles – the only downside is the goggles require you to have a monitor capable of running a refresh rate of at least 120Hz.

More additions you say? Yes, RE5 for PC will also award Chris and Sheva with two additional and exclusive new costumes each and a new difficulty level for the bonus Mercenaries mode which will triple the amount of enemies in each level. The enthusiast Resident Evil 5 gamer will certainly have their work cut out for them this time round

In an interview for unWIRED TV, voice actor for everybody’s favourite Resident Evil villain Albert Wesker, D.C. Douglas, was able to confirm that Wesker does indeed play a major role in the upcoming Darkside Chronicles game for Wii.

Details regarding Wesker’s role in Darkside Chronicles is currently unknown but it’s possible Wesker will feature in a number of flashbacks during the first two playable “episodes” and almost certainly will return to hog the spotlight during the Code Veronica “re-imagining” episode.

D.C. Douglas also mentioned something during the interview which I found quite interesting: apparently he did a voice over for Wesker in what he called a prequel; only a short piece of dialogue but it’s definitely something. Obviously, this has me eager to learn more, will we be seeing another Resident Evil prequel further down the line? Perhaps a prequel to Resident Evil Zero (0)? Perhaps Resident Evil -1? Are we going to go into the minuses? I jest but I’m definitely eager to learn more about this rumoured prequel.

This is going to be the first of many Darkside Chronicles news pieces, so I thought I’d start by just giving out those few basic details the majority of us will know but take into account that newer Resident Evil fans are emerging every day, and so, give us a minute or two of your time to fill them in.

Darkside Chronicles is a “re-imagining” of the PSX version of Resident Evil 2. Players will once again take control of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they work together to escape the zombie infested city. However, similar to the Silent Hill remake that was recently released, gamers can expect to see plenty of changes to the story that should take fans of the original Resident Evil 2 by surprise.

From what we know so far the game so far – Darkside Chronicles is going to be divided into three main segments:

The Return to Raccoon City

the first being a fan favourite, the outbreak in Raccoon City. Although, unlike the original RE2, Leon and Claire will not be separated at the beginning and will likely be meeting up with important characters such as Ada Wong and Sherry Birkin together. That also means they will be jointly facing this nightmare together, fighting the hordes of zombies as a team.

Mission in South America

A whole new “re-imagined” story has been announced and that will see Leon travel to South America. Rumours are rife that this will serve as an introduction for the entry of Resident Evil 4 fan favourite, Jack Krauser.

A Brief Stop in Rockfort Island

Lastly, fans of Resident Evil: Code Veronica will be pleased to learn that the final third of the game will have you returning to Rockfort Island. Claire Redfield and of course Steve Burnside – with his trademark gold lugers – will take a starring role for this section. We’re optimistic that Chris Redfield will also be playable too.
