Expect more Resident Evil titles to be released and much more often, claims Capcom

Anyone who has followed the Call of Duty series for the past few years will know that every new COD game is released on a yearly basis; and soon, with Activision taking on a third software company to develop COD games, it would seem that we’ll soon be able to expect a new COD game every 8-10 months. With three separate companies working exclusively on individual COD titles, it means taht fans can expect more releases and much more frequently. And, ya know, I’m sure Activision doesn’t mind the extra ba-jillion dollars that the COD franchise brings in every five minutes.

Well, as it happens, it seems that Capcom must really admire Activision’s strategy and is choosing to adopt a similar approach to the Resident Evil series. With the Resident Evil franchise being arguably Capcom’s most popular, profitable and recognizable property, a decision to have numerous software developers create Resident Evil titles simultaneously can only be a good thing for both the fans and Capcom themselves.

Capcom has made it clear that the’d be interested in churning out a minimum of three to four Resi games per year. Crikey. More choice for us, I ‘spose. Being a huge Resident Evil fan – believe it or not – I’ll lap up all the quality Resident Evil games they can offer.
